Proton releases the sales performance number for November 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has released its sales performance report for November 2019. The report informs that the carmaker was able to sell 9,643 units last month, which brings the cumulative volume for the year to 89,476 units. The sales figure include both domestic sales and exports. The numbers will be confirmed officially only when the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) will reveal the final sales data of November.

Given the facts by Proton, the sales chart has been improved slightly in comparison to October 2019 sales, when the carmaker sold 9,503 units. As mentioned earlier, with the cumulative volume of 89,476 units, it marks a 50.1% growth in total year-on-year numbers. The market share of the carmaker has also been increased and now it has 16.2% of the share.

To hit the projected 100,000 unit sales count in 2019, Proton has to sell over 10,500 units in the final month of the year. Moreover, it will also mark its presence at the second place in the overall sales table in 2019, as it’s well ahead in terms of sale count over third-placed Honda.

The main reason behind this success has been the demand of the Proton Saga. 4,091 units had been delivered last month, making it the third consecutive month to break the 4,000 unit barrier. In the A-segment sedan sales table, it has claimed the top spot with such impressive sales count. According to Li Chunrong, the CEO of Proton, next year, the manufacturer will offer more Sagas.

He said, “In just four months, we have already achieved more than 35,000 bookings and currently, every unit our factory can deliver has been spoken for. Our challenge, therefore, is to increase our production capacity for the Saga and we have had intensive discussions with our vendors to work towards a volume increase next year.”
