Proton Exora: What makes it different in the segment
Proton has been making cars for many years now. Today, it has got a strong product portfolio for the Malaysian market, and this makes it one of the best car brands in the country. Out of its wide range of products, the Exora is one of its best-selling cars. It is a 7-seater MPV that is available in two variants - 1.6L EXECUTIVE and 1.6L EXECUTIVE PLUS. The Proton Exora price for the former is RM 62,008 and RM 69,347 for the latter. There are other capable 7-seater available in the market as well which give fierce competition to the Exora. So, what makes this car different in the segment? Read on to find out.
It’s a Proton
Yes, that’s right. One of the most significant advantages that the Proton Exora has over the other cars in the segment is the fact that it is a Proton. Since Proton is a Malaysian brand and manufactures cars itself, it knows the local market a bit better than the others. This gives the Exora an upper hand not only concerning availability but also regarding the trust and faith of the Malaysians.
Aggressive price
This reason is somewhat linked to the previous one. Since Proton makes the Exora in-house, it allows the brand to cut costs on many parameters. Therefore, Proton can price the Exora very aggressively in the market. You can get the base model of the Exora at RM 62,008. This makes the competition in the segment more fierce and forcing other brands to price similar products close to the Exora.
Front captain seats
To provide utmost comfort to the driver and passenger, Proton decided to install captain seats in the front row. These seats come with armrest further enhancing the comfort level. You even get leather upholstery in the higher-end model that adds to the premium-ness of the car.
Overhead infotainment system
Proton Exora can carry seven people on board and is an excellent vehicle to take your family on weekend getaways or even on longer journeys. To take care of the entertainment needs of the rear passengers, Proton has equipped the Exora with an overhead infotainment system. This system features a large 9-inch LCD monitor that is more than sufficient to provide a seamless experience to the 2nd and 3rd-row passengers. The system supports AUX and USB connectivity. You also get a conventional 2-DIN radio located on the dashboard.
Finely tuned engine
If you go through the Proton Exora specs, you’ll notice that both of its variants come with a single engine option which is a 1.6L 4-cylinder petrol unit that churns out 140 PS at 5000 rpm and 205 Nm at 4000 rpm. The transmission at duty is a CVT unit. Proton has finely tuned the engine to suit the character of the Exora. Consequently, you get an optimal combination of performance and fuel efficiency.
Cruise control
The 1.6L EXECUTIVE PLUS model of the Exora has been given a convenient feature called cruise control. You can use this feature while making long journeys on highways. By operating the toggle located close to the steering wheel, you can set the desired speed, and the Exora will cruise at it without any fuss.
Clever storage spaces
It is quite prominent that the interior of the Exora is quite spacious. There is sufficient room for everybody onboard. However, Proton has also utilised the interior space very cleverly to carve out storage spaces for your things. For example, there are a total of 10 cup and bottle holders that you can find in the Exora. Isn’t that overwhelming?
The competition in the compact MPV segment is growing day by day with manufacturers like Toyota playing their cards to win the trust and hearts of people. But Proton is not ready to back off at all. If you are in the market looking for an affordable and value-for-money compact MPV that is easy on the pocket even after the purchase, then you should go and check out the Proton Exora. We have mentioned a few points that make the Exora an exciting buy. We would love to know what do you guys think about this indigenous compact MPV.
