When will the Porsche Macan EV debut?
The Porsche Macan EV global debut is scheduled for January 25, 2024 in Singapore. What do the Porsche Macan EV design sketches reveal?
The design sketches reveal the front and rear design of the EV featuring horizontal headlamps with LED accents, a set of lights integrated into the front bumper, and a full-width rear light bar.The sketches suggest that the new Macan has a design similar to the Porsche Taycan. It boasts horizontal headlamps with LED accents and a set of lights integrated into the bumper. At the rear lies a full-width light bar.
For aerodynamic performance, Porsche designers have combined the striking silhouette with the components of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) and other targeted measures. “The active aerodynamic elements all significantly contribute to the range,” says Thomas Wiegand, Director of Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics.
“We have an automatically extending rear spoiler and active cooling flaps on the front air intakes.” The drag coefficient of the EV is rated at 0.25 Cd.
Porsche has confirmed that the next-gen Macan is built on the PPE platform, which is co-developed with Audi. The EV underpins a 100 kWh battery pack and 800-volt electrical architecture supporting up to 270 kW of DC charging. It will cruise up to 500 km (on the WLTP cycle) on a single charge.
The most powerful configuration of the EV is expected to come with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system churning out 612 PS of maximum power and 1000 Nm of peak torque.
Porsche Vice President of Style, Michael Mauer said, “The new Macan is the first model that we are electrifying from an existing, established product identity”. In his view, “every new sports car has to be very clearly recognisable as part of the Porsche product family and the model in question, but also has to be perceived as ‘the new one.”
For detailed specifications, we have to wait for the Porsche Macan EV reveal slated for tomorrow.
