The electric Macan has already garnered widespread interest since its global debut.
Built on Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Macan features cutting-edge 800-volt architecture and a 100 kWh battery pack, with 95 kWh usable capacity. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive Macan delivers 265 kW (360 PS) and offers up to 641 km of WLTP-certified range.
For those seeking more power, the all-wheel-drive Macan 4 produces 300 kW (408 PS), while the Macan 4S increases output to 380 kW (516 PS). At the top of the lineup, the Macan Turbo boasts an impressive 470 kW (639 PS) with a staggering 1,130 Nm of torque, capable of 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.
Charging is a breeze, with fast-charging capabilities from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes at compatible stations. The innovative battery system also allows efficient charging at 400-volt stations through a dual-bank design.
Sporting a refreshed design, the Macan retains its iconic Porsche styling while optimizing proportions for EV architecture. Its sharper lines, coupe-like roofline, and frameless doors exude sophistication, while new aerodynamic features, such as an adaptive rear spoiler and sealed underbody, contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.25.
Inside, the Macan offers increased space and practicality. With up to 540 liters of rear luggage capacity, complemented by an 84-liter “frunk,” the Macan is more versatile than ever. Folding down the rear seats expands storage to 1,348 liters. Lower seating positions and a reimagined cockpit enhance the driver-focused experience, blending digital displays with Porsche’s timeless design elements.
Driving Dynamics and New Tech
The electric Macan introduces rear-axle steering for the first time, enhancing agility at low speeds and stability at high speeds. Air suspension with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) comes standard on selected variants, providing a broader range of comfort and performance.
Technological highlights include a 12.6-inch curved driver display, 10.9-inch infotainment and passenger screens, and advanced features like voice commands and augmented reality head-up displays.
Christopher Hunter, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance, noted, “We are thrilled to introduce the new all-electric Macan in Malaysia. The Macan has long been a popular model, and we’re excited to begin delivering the all-new second-generation model to our customers. Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong demand. The Macan is now also available for test drives at all Porsche Centres.”
Porsche Asia Pacific’s Head of Region, Remmy Ng, added, “2024 has been a milestone year for Porsche. Highlights include exporting the first Malaysian-assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé to Thailand and opening a new charging hub in Genting Highlands in partnership with Shell. Now, we round up the year with another spectacular model launch—the all-electric Macan.”
The Macan Electric is now open for bookings and test drives at Porsche Centres nationwide. For more details, visit Porsche Malaysia’s official site.
