Perodua reports sales of 227,243 units in 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua, one of the largest carmakers in Malaysia, reported to have sold 227,243 units in 2018, making it year successful for the brand. This is the best performance of Perodua in terms of annual sales until now.

In 2017, the automaker sold 204,900 units, which means the company witnesses around 11% year-to-year growth in 2018. Three months of tax holiday in the country and Myvi’s strong performance are considered as the main reasons behind the brand's sales growth.

2019 is a very crucial year for Perodua as it has come up with a huge prospect to increase the sales further. The manufacturer is on a target to take the sales figure to 231,000 units. Perodua is banking on the recently launched Aruz SUV and already popular Myvi’s to get the numbers this year.

Perodua’s CEO and president, Mr Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said that since the pre-booking of Aruz SUV started, the brand has received around 5,700 bookings, which is pretty encouraging for the company. It is expecting to sell around 2,500 units monthly.

The best selling model for the Perodua last year is the Myvi. The sales count is 82,122 units, while the pre-booking number for the car is around 118,000 units. Also, Bezaa, Alza, and Axia were facelifted last year, and these cars contributed with 49911, 24389, and 70,821 units, respectively.

Speaking of its production, the manufacturer has claimed that around 219,000 vehicles had been manufactured at the Perodua Global Manufacturing and Perodua Manufacturing plants in 2018. The carmaker is also aiming to increase the production to 242,000 cars in 2019.
