Perodua Myvi: Old vs New
The next chapter of Perodua’s best-selling Myvi was initiated earlier this month when the automaker launched its upgraded version. The new Myvi hosts a number of updates, including significant design changes, new tech features, and advanced safety bits. It is to be noted that this is the first time in Malaysian automotive history that a car priced under RM 60,000 offers Autonomous Level 2 technology. So, let’s get into the details and know what’s exactly different between the new and old Myvi.

Exterior
In terms of exterior design, the new Myvi looks sportier than the pre-facelift model. It benefits from a new front fascia making a big X in the middle. The grille is now larger and features a slim chrome strip that joins the new LED headlights. The headlights are now slimmer and have a more angular appearance. On the bottom, we can see a different front bumper housing vertical LED DRLs. The top variants also get an aggressive splitter with a chrome bar.
Perodua also redesigned the rear fascia of the new Myvi. The significant changes include a new bumper with vertical vents twining with the vertical LED strips positioned on the front. On the sides, the hatchback continues to feature 15-inch (14-inch as standard) alloy wheels, while the wing mirrors get glossy black finishing.
Moving to the colour options, the old Myvi was available in seven shades viz. Lava Red, Peppermint Green, Electric Blue Granite Grey, Mystical Purple, Glittering Silver, and Ivory White. For the new model, Perodua dropped Peppermint Green and Mystical Purple and added Cranberry Red to the palette. The latter is only available for the AV trim.
Interior
Inside the cabin, the new Myvi boasts the same dashboard architecture available on the pre-facelift model, however, in terms of equipment, it gets some significant updates. These include a new steering wheel with lots of control buttons, redesigned instrument panel with a new TFT coloured multi-info display, a bigger 6.9-inch centre infotainment unit, leather-wrapped seats with red accents, and red highlights on the AC vents surround. However, these changes are variant-specific and of course, the full bells and whistles AV trim has all these goodies.
Engine specs and fuel consumption
On this front, the new Myvi borrowed the engine options from the old model, although it gets a new gearbox that offers a 20% faster acceleration time, and a 5% reduction in fuel consumption. Let’s check out the engine specifications.
