Perodua launches Axia Style in Sri Lanka

KUALA LUMPUR: Just two months after launching the new Axia in the local market, Perodua has now introduced the Axia Style model at the recently concluded Colombo Motor Show in Sri Lanka. Unimo Enterprises, Perodua’s distributor in Sri Lanka, is planning to start the deliveries early next year. The new model has been priced at 3.9 million rupees (Approx. RM89K).

Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, the CEO and president of Perodua stated, “As Sri Lanka is the Perodua brand’s biggest overseas market and one that has always been accepting of the Axia, with some 3,000 units sold since 2015, it is fitting as the new Perodua Axia Style’s first export destination,”.

As compared to the previous-gen Axia model, Style trim has a few aesthetic features such as new unique bumpers in place of a huge hexagonal framework. Also, it has a black plastic cladding around the body, clear taillight lenses, roof rails, silver skid plates, and fabric upholstery. The 15-inch alloy wheels have made the ride height higher. Other features include Vehicle Stability Control, push-button start along with the keyless entry. Srilanka also gets a new Sunrise Orange color.

“SUVs and crossovers are enjoying a big rise globally, and we foresee the same trend taking hold in Sri Lanka,” said Mahesh Gunathilake, Unimo Enterprises ED and CEO. He further added “The new Perodua Axia Style offers the active and trendy looks of a crossover in a compact, fuel-efficient, dependable and value-for-money package that we believe will strike a chord with Sri Lankans.”

Since 1997, Unimo Enterprises has sold more than 15,000 Perodua cars. Last year, Perodua had exported around 2,184 units and is aiming to sell 3,270 cars in the current year, marking a growth of around 50% YoY.
