Perodua launches Alza and Axia in Brunei; targeting 79% increase in export volume
KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua exports its cars to several markets, with one of them being Brunei. The automaker is now geared up to expand its presence in the sovereign state with an aim to broaden its overseas markets.

Perodua recently launched the three-row Alza and Axia hatchback in Brunei, with a starting price of BND 27,900 (approx RM 100k) and BND 17,900 (RM 63k) respectively.Last year, the Malaysia automaker exported a total of 1,094 units to Brunei. However, for the current year, it has ambitious plans to increase its export volume significantly by 79%, aiming to export 1,960 units.
Perodua introduced the new Alza and Axia in Brunei a few days back. The versatile and spacious Alza is offered in two variants - H and AV in that part of the world. It is priced at BND 27,900 (approx RM 100k) for the H variant and BND 30,900 (approx RM 109k) for the AV variant.
Along with the three-row Alza, the automaker also launched the Axia hatchback in the country. It is also offered in two trims - G and AV variants, priced at BND 17,900 (RM 63k) and BND 21,900 (RM 77k), respectively.
The Perodua lineup in Brunei also includes - Bezza 1.0L G which costs BND 16,900 (RM 59,238).
“We foresee 2024 to be our first year of our export expansion as we are now at a point where the Malaysian automotive ecosystem would be able to cope with the ever-growing demand of our vehicles both within and outside the country,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Offer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

Last year, Perodua sold 300 units of the Bezza in Brunei, making it Perodua’s top export market. This year, the automaker anticipates a sales surge as it aggressively expands its operations and enhances its vendors’ production capabilities.
“Brunei is the first export market we are expanding to without compromising domestic allocation of our vehicles. In fact, we have significantly reduced the waiting period for most of our popular models and even have ready stock for selected models.”
“In addition, our targeted increase in exports will also give greater opportunities for our vendors to grow their sales volume in tandem with the need for spare parts,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.
