Perodua Axia is safe to drive, no recalls will be issued, confirms Perodua CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: After Daihatsu's media statement issued on April 28, 2023 mentioning a procedural irregularity in the testing of four models, one of which is the Perodua Axia, Perodua has issued a press release that provides details on the background, insights, and perspectives regarding the issue.

The automaker explains Daihatsu carried out safety testing for the new Axia in Japan in the presence of the relevant authorities and agencies for their respective assessment. 

When the news of a ‘procedural irregularity’ causing concern about the safety standards of the hatchback came to light, Perodua immediately took action and contacted the relevant authorities involved in the safety testing to determine the safety standard of the Perodua Axia. 

And, to our relief, the concerned authorities have confirmed that the UN-R95 certification given to the Perodua Axia is intact. This means that the hatchback is “safe for driving and no recall will be issued nor will Perodua stop delivery of this new model to our valued customers.”

“We apologise for any distress caused to our customers on this matter and we wish to assure that the safety information and specification of all our models are verified by professional bodies.”
