Perodua Axia: Features explained
Since the launch, the Perodua Axia has been one of the best-selling cars in the Malaysian automobile market, and its recent sales numbers also prove that the magic of this small and affordable hatchback is not going to fade anytime soon. Back in August, the automaker revealed the YTD sales figures and according to that the Axia grabbed the position of second best-selling vehicle in the country; the Myvi and Bezza were on the first rank and third rank, respectively.
Given its increasing popularity among the masses, Perodua gave the Axia a second facelift last year since it entered the playing field back in 2014. The latest iteration is available in six different variants - E, G, Gxtra, Style, SE, and AV, and four color options - Lava Red, Midnight Blue, Ivory White, and Glittering Silver.

EEV engine
As for the engine, all the Axia variants are powered by the same 1.0-litre, DOHC, VVT-i EEV engine that has been tuned to generate a maximum power of 67 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4400 rpm. According to Perodua, the EEV engine is built to improve fuel consumption and to reduce levels of vibration and noise. With 5-speed manual gearbox, it returns a fuel economy of 22.5 km per litre, while with automatic transmission on board, the hatchback hits a mileage of 21.6 kmpl.
Advanced Safety Assist 2.0
The latest version of the Perodua Axia comes with Advanced safety assist 2.0, which includes several driver-assistance features like a pre-collision warning, pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, front departure alert, and pedal misoperation control. The said safety suite is not available on the base E variant, which still has a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Front corner sensors
The top SE and AV variants also have front corner sensors that detect obstructions around the hatchback when it is driven at low speeds at the time of parking and create a buzzer sound to notify the driver about the surrounding obstruction.
Vehicle stability control
The Perodua Axia specs sheet also has a vehicle stability control feature that uses sensors and an onboard computer algorithm to monitor traction power and braking in real-time. According to that, it manages or corrects any human error or lessens the risk of traction loss due to poor road or weather conditions.
Sporty exterior
Perodua Axia is not the most stylish car in the segment, but it is definitely one of the stylish ones. Some of its key exterior features are-

Perodua has designed this hatchback so brilliantly that it features a boot capacity of 260 litres, enough to carry small luggage. The customers can also increase this space as the automaker offers the Axia with flexible seating arrangements.
Seats
Talking about the Axia seats, the front units are of the semi-bucket type with a good amount of bolstering providing a good and comfortable driving position. The rear seats also offer amazing under-thigh support that is actually a blessing during longer trips. The automaker has also added shopping hooks as well as seat-back pockets at the back of the front seats.
Smart entry with a smart key
Perodua Axia also comes with a smart key incorporating a special chip inside that is recognized by the vehicle. As the driver approaches the car, it senses the chip and unlocks the doors automatically.
