Perodua Aruz variant study: Differences & similarities

It seems that the all-new Perodua Aruz has hit the market with a bang as it is the latest SUV that everyone’s talking about. Perodua launched the Aruz a couple of days ago and since then this name has been searched on the Internet numerous times. We’ve got everything about this trending name covered; first impressions, safety equipment and accessories, and even the alternatives that you can consider. In this story, we’re going to go explain the variants of the Perodua Aruza.

The Perodua Aruza variants include the 1.5X and1.5AV. There are a plethora of features that come as standard in both the variants. We will be talking about those features in the later part of this story. First, we’re going to cover the differences between these two variants.

Differences

The 1.5X variant of the Aruz offers a lot even after being a base model. Perodua has done a good job in keeping the standards of this SUV high. There are a few differences between the 1.5X and 1.5AV variants. These difference are more noticeable in the interior than the exterior. And we are going to tell you about all of them.

The exterior of the 1.5X misses out on a few styling or premium elements. It doesn’t get the silver treatment on the front bumper. There are no fog lamps rather just a plastic covering the area. Perodua has also removed the roof rails from this variant. All these features are available on the 1.5AV model. But these aren’t something that you should worry about too much because even without them, the Perodua Aruz looks quite attractive.

It's inside the cabin of the new Aruz where you will see noticeable differences between its two variants. The appealing piano black finish on the dashboard and the silver accents in other parts, all are gone. They are replaced by simple black plastic. It is high-quality plastic but it is 'plastic' at the end of the day. The steering wheel doesn’t come with a leather wrap. You also miss out on leather seats and get fabric ones instead. The fabric is quite good but it would never be able to provide a leather-like experience. Perodua has also removed leather from the gear knob. There is also no Integrated Driving Video Recorder (DVR) on the 1.5X model.

One of the biggest differences between the 1.5X and 1.5AV variants is the Advanced Safety Assist (A.S.A) 2.0. It is an intelligent active safety system that uses a front camera to find obstacles and or vehicles in the way and alert about the same to the driver via a buzzing sound. The 1.5X misses out on this safety feature.

Similarities

Both the variants of the Perodua Aruz have got many similarities. The exterior gets LED headlamps with LED DRLs, electric side mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED rear brake lights, etc. The interior features a large multimedia system with navigation support and Smart Link only for Android smartphones. There is also a manual AC with rear AC vents mounted on the ceiling. The cabin space in both the variants remains the same.

Powering both the 1.5X and 1.5AV variants of the Aruz is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 105 PS at 6000 rpm and 136 Nm of peak torque is generated at 4200 rpm. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels. There is no option for a manual transmission. There is also an Eco Idle System that is supposed to help in the overall fuel efficiency of the Aruz.

In terms of safety features, you get 6 airbags, Hill-start Assist, ABS with EBD and BA, traction control, and vehicle stability control in both the two variants.

So, these were the similarities and differences between the 1.5X and 1.5AV models. The Perodua Aruz price for the 1.5X model is RM 72,900 whereas the 1.5AV will set you back by RM 77,900. Both the models are available in 5 different colors - Electric Blue, Ivory White Solid, Glittering Silver Metallic, Granite Grey, and Amazon Green.
