Inspiration
The Wraith Landspeed Collection commemorates the amazing achievement of Captain George Eyston, who successfully set three land speed records for the brand, and it was all in the late 1930s. The limited-edition model gets several unique touches inspired by the record-breaking Thunderbolt, designed and driven by Eyston himself.
Exterior highlights
The limited-edition Wraith is offered in a two-tone finish, including Black Diamond Metallic and Bonneville Blue, a new bespoke hue ( the combination is available in opposite variations).
The yellow tone seen around the body (front bumper and 21-inch wheels) is inspired by the large black arrow with yellow circles that Eyston painted on the Thunderbolt to improve its visibility during the record-breaking runs.
From the Wraith Black Badge variant, it gets the Spirit of Ecstasy figure, blacked-out front grille, and red callipers.
Interior inclusions
Like any other bespoke Rolls-Royce, the Wraith Landspeed Collection showcases a beautiful cabin with the new Starlight Headliner (the recreation of the night sky at Bonneville Salt Flats, the day Eyston set the third & final record). The constellation this particular headliner showcases is made using 2,117 individually-placed fiber optic 'stars,' most ever used in a Wraith.
Other interesting incisions reminding one of the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Thunderbolt, and Caption Eyston are - Ribbon Flag inserts on the driver side door, Bonneville Salt Flats fissures in the dashboard wood veneer, and Eyston's top speed record engraved on the car's cabin clock.
Engine & performance details
Powering the Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge Landspeed Collection model is the same mill found under the hood of the regular model. So, a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine generates maximum power of 632 hp along with a peak torque of 870 Nm. The drive is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
With the above-mentioned configurations, the car completes the century sprint in just 4.5 seconds after attaining an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
All the 35 units of the Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge Landspeed Collection are spoken for, even the one we have here in Malaysia.
