Nissan Navara: Variants explained

The Navara pickup is one of the best products that Nissan Malaysia has got in the country. It has got a well-established place in the segment. One of the reasons why the Navara is popular is because of its number of variants. There are a total of eleven variants. The Nissan Navara price starts at RM 77,330 for the base model and ends at RM 123,643 for the range-topping model. Here we have discussed each of the variants for your better understanding.

SINGLE CAB 2.5L M/T

This is the only single cab variant of the Nissan Navara. It falls in the commercial vehicles category. It is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 163 PS and 403 Nm. The gearbox is a 6-speed manual unit which transmits the power to all the four wheels. All the Navara variants come with a 4WD system. This variant has got 16-inch steel wheels instead of alloy ones. Being a single cab model, it has a long load bed measuring at 2,310 mm.

The interior here is pretty basic. Vinyl seats, 1DIN audio system with 4 speakers, urethane steering wheel, manual AC, and nothing else to talk about. For safety, it has dual airbags, seatbelts, and an immobilizer. To keep the cost low, the headlights are halogens but you do get electrically adjustable door mirrors. The cost of this variant is RM 77,330.

DOUBLE CAB 2.5L SE M/T

As the name suggests, it is a double cab variant with a seating capacity of five. It gets the same engine and gearbox. It runs on a bit wider tyres - 255 / 70 R16 as compared to that of the previous variant. The load bed length is reduced to 1,465 mm to accommodate the second cabin. Talking about the cabin, the interior is a bit better. Fabric seats, remote controlled key, audio system with USB and AUX support and 6 speakers, rear AC vents, and Zero Gravity Inspired seats that are more comfortable.

The safety features include dual airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ABS, EBD, BA, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS), Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS), Advanced Hill Descent Control (HDC), Hill-start Assist (HSA), and reverse parking sensors. On the outside, we get power foldable door mirrors, side-steps, and a bed liner. You can have this model at RM 84,783.

DOUBLE CAB 2.5L SE A/T

This model is very much similar to the previous model. There are only a few additional features to justify the increased cost. Of course, it comes with a 7-Speed Automatic with Manual Mode. Other than that, you get 16-inch alloy wheels and wing mirror signal lamp. For these extra elements, you would need to pay RM 97,991.

DOUBLE CAB 2.5L V A/T

Costing at RM 104,595, this variant brings along a 5-inch display in the interior and a rearview or reverse camera for help in parking.

DOUBLE CAB 2.5L VL A/T

This variant is slightly powerful than the aforementioned ones because Nissan has tweaked with its engine. The engine is the same unit but here it produces 140 PS instead of 120 PS and 450 Nm instead of 403 Nm. Nissan also increased the size of the wheel to 18-inch. In the safety department, we get 3 airbags (dual front and driver's knee). The interior gets a bit premium with leather seats and i-key. We also get cruise control, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, and roof rails. All these features increase the cost of this variant to RM 114,029.

DOUBLE CAB 2.5L VL PLUS A/T

This model comes with better safety features. It even includes 2 side airbags, 2 curtain airbags, and Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM). Of course, these are added features that come with all the other safety features of the previous model. Apart from them, we also get dual-zone automatic AC, power driver seat, and digital speedometer. All of this at RM 119,869.

To make the already stylish pickup even more attractive, Nissan introduced the Navara Black Series. Models under this range are similar to the normal models but they have some added exterior elements to make them look more modern and stylish. There are four variants that fall in this series and all of them are exactly the same as their respective normal variants. The only additional elements are for visual variances. These are matte black front grille, matte black eyelid covers, matte black fog lamp covers, blacked-out front bumper, matte black side mirror covers, black finish sport bar, matte black front and rear over fenders, and local leather combination seats.

The four variants - 2.5L SE A/T, 2.5L V A/T, 2.5L VL A/T, and 2.5L VL PLUS A/T - cost RM 102,708, RM 109,312, RM 117,802, and RM 123,643 respectively.
