Nissan Almera now equipped with Android Auto in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan has introduced the updated version of the second-generation Almera in neighbouring countries, and it is also expected to soon arrive in Malaysia. Well, ahead of that, Nissan Malaysia has given the ongoing model a small yet significant upgrade in the form of Android Auto support. 

The newly-added Android Auto smartphone compatibility joins Apple CarPlay which has been available with the car since its launch in 2020. It is available for the mid-range VLP and top-spec VLT variants that come equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. With this update, the Nissan Almera is now on par with its key rivals, including the Honda City and Toyota Vios.

While the new units of the sedan will feature Android Auto compatibility, Nissan Malaysia has not yet revealed whether the existing units of the car, currently running on local roads, will also be equipped with it or not.

This small upgrade does not bring any change in the Nissan Almera pricing in Malaysia. ETCM continues to retail the sedan between RM 83,888 and RM 95,888. All three trims - VL, VLP, and VLP come powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, which kicks out a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 152 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via an X-Tronic CVT gearbox. 

What to expect from the upcoming Nissan Almera facelift?

The upcoming Nissan Almera facelift features a new front profile with a new bold V-motion grille and an enhanced safety kit. The latter comprises - lane departure warning, high beam assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The interior is expected to remain identical to the existing model with a few enhancements like new sporty trims, and a wireless charger.
