Next-gen Suzuki Swift Concept revealed ahead of global premiere
KUALA LUMPUR: The official debut of the fourth-generation Suzuki Swift Concept is scheduled to take place at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, set to be held in Tokyo from October 26 to November 5, 2023. But, ahead of that, the Japanese automaker has offered a sneak peek of the upcoming pre-production model.

The next-gen Suzuki Swift Concept will come with a few subtle cosmetic tweaks inside out and out, a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and advanced driver assistance features.In terms of exterior design, the next-gen Suzuki Swift benefits from a few subtle tweaks making it look more modern. The restyled hatchback features a small oval-ish front grille with honeycomb inserts, slimmer and sharper LED headlights, and daytime running lights. The tail lights are also new and feature inverted C-shaped lighting elements and black inserts; these are teamed up with a new tailgate.
This new Suzuki Swift continues to have a boxy side profile which means we can expect the same generous rear headroom.
Speaking about the interior, the revamped hatchback gets revisions in this area as well. The cabin looks inspired by the brand’s new models, including the Fronx and the Grand Vitara. It sports a black and white theme and a slightly revised dashboard with a free-floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster.
Suzuki has confirmed that the upcoming version of the Swift hatchback will come equipped with some advanced driver assistance features like autonomous emergency braking and high-beam assist. The list of continuing features includes - push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto climate control, multiple airbags, an electronic stability program, hill-hold assist, and a reversing camera.
In terms of mechanical bits, the fourth-gen Swift is likely to get the same tried and tested 90 PS/113 Nm 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with a mild-hybrid setup. As for the transmission, we can expect a choice between a standard 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.
Suzuki Swift in Malaysia
Suzuki Malaysia offers the third-generation Swift Sport in a sole CBU variant, priced at RM 145,900 (on the road, without insurance). It comes powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder Boosterjet turbo engine producing a maximum power of 140 hp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 2,500 to 3,500 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
