Next-gen Honda BR-V set to reveal on September 21

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda is set to launch an all-new SUV in the Indonesian market on September 21 as its official website has a live countdown showcasing the silhouette of the upcoming car. But, which model is this? Well, it is said to be the production-spec form of the N7X concept unveiled back in May but according to the Indonesian sources, it would be the next-gen Honda BR-V. However, the Japanese automaker earlier stated the N7X will sit above the BR-V in its lineup.

Let’s see what we know so far about the production-spec N7X or new BR-V?

The upcoming three-row SUV shares the underpinnings with Honda City with a claim to offer an amazing blend of SUV and MPV body styles. It is reportedly to borrow mechanicals from the sedan as well, which means there will be a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally petrol engine kicking out a maximum power of 121 bhp and a peak torque of 145 Nm. A 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic will likely be on the gearbox options list. 

Besides this, the reports also suggest the availability of a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain that the automaker offers with the sedan in some of the Asian countries.

The Honda N7X is expected to be offered in four variants -  S, E, Prestige, and Prestige HS with different transmission choices.

In terms of design, the three-row SUV carries a large grille on the front with plenty of chrome elements. The light setup comprises LED headlamps with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights on the front and wraparound LED tail lights on the rear. 

As for advanced tech systems, it will have the Honda Sensing ADAS suite as revealed by the earlier leaked patent filing. This may include adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation. lane keeping assist. traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, and Honda LaneWatch.

The production of the upcoming N7X/BR-V is reportedly to commence soon in Indonesia with the deliveries scheduled for later this year. No information is available as to when it will launch in Malaysia at this moment.
