New Renault Zoe EV launched in Malaysia, here’s all you need to know

The official distributor of Renault cars in Malaysia, TC Euro Cars, has launched the new Zoe EV in the country. The latest B-segment electric hatchback is offered in two variants - ZE50 R110 and ZE50 R135.  

Upon introducing the new Renault Zoe, Wong Hoe Mun, CEO of TC Euro Cars said, “Over the years, Renault Zoe has established itself as one of the pioneering urban electric cars in the world. It has raised the bar, thanks to its increased power and range. With its distinctive fresh design, modernised interior and technologies, the new Zoe takes the pleasure of 100 percent electric city driving to a new dimension.”

2023 Renault Zoe price 

While the base-spec Zoe ZE50 R110 is priced at RM 165,000 (on-the-road without insurance), one needs to shell out an amount of RM 179,000 for the ZE50 R135. These prices include a three-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty with a minimum capacity of 70%.

2023 Renault Zoe subscription plan

Renault Malaysia also offers the electric hatchback via the subscription model. The Subscription Fixed Plans range from one to three years and the monthly fee starts at RM 2,799. The latter includes insurance, regular servicing fees and a Type 2 AC cable. Given all the required documents, the approval of the subscription comes in three working days.

“Subscription is a great way for people to experience the EV lifestyle with the new Renault Zoe without having to make a purchase. Not only is it more affordable and accessible, but customers also need not worry about a range of ownership-related concerns. These include the vehicle price, downpayment, loan tenure, interest rates, warranties, servicing and maintenance, insurance and depreciation,” said Wong.

2023 Renault Zoe powertrain, range, and charging 

The new Renault Zoe R110 is powered by an 80 kW electric motor generating a maximum power of 109 PS and a peak torque of 225 Nm. The top-spec Zoe R135, on the other hand, takes energy from a 100 kW motor that delivers 136 PS and 245 Nm. When it comes to battery capacity, both versions carry the same 52 kWh Z.E. 50 pack delivering a range of 395 km in the R110 and 386 km in the R135.

In terms of performance, the R110 runs from zero to 100 kmph in 11.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 135 kmph. The R135 completes the century sprint in 9.5 seconds and maxes at 140 kmph.

As for charging, the new Renault EV supports both AC and DC fast charging that juice it up in the following time

22 kW AC with a Type 2 connector	10 to 100 % in three hours
50 kW DC with a CCS2 connection	10 to 80% SoC in 70 minutes

“With its best-in-class 22 kW AC charging capability and the availability of over 110 public 22 kW AC chargers across Peninsular Malaysia, one of which is conveniently located at the Renault flagship showroom in Petaling Jaya, new Zoe customers can have peace of mind knowing that they have easy access to AC charging, which is substantially cheaper than DC charging,” Wong added.

2023 Renault Zoe design 

The new Renault Zoe boasts a distinctive design with a revamped hood and a new bumper that contributes to its overall appearance. It is complemented by chrome inserts in the grille, headlights, and fog lights. Towards the centre of the new front face lies a “holographic” Renault diamond, which houses the new charging hatch. 

The vents placed on the sides of the EV are strategically designed to improve the flow of air; it reduces aerodynamic drag resulting in better handling and driving range.

Hop inside the Renault EV and you will be welcomed by a contemporary, connected and eco-friendly cabin. The dashboard gets a new layout, new, soft and supple high-quality material and different screens. The display of the digital instrument is customisable and comes with offline navigation. 

For better ergonomics, cruise control buttons are now positioned behind the steering wheel. The car also comes fitted with an acoustic windshield, reducing the impact of noise from outside. As for storage, passengers get multiple useful compartments. 

The EV is packed with new fabric upholstery, which is 100 percent recycled using carded yarn, which is industry-first. The yarn is derived from discarded safety belts and plastic waste (PET).
