What to expect from the upcoming Omoda C9?
Globally introduced in February last year, the Omoda C9 is a five-seater SUV based on Chery's M3X platform. It measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,671 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. These dimensions put it in direct competition with the Proton X90, Kia Sorento, and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
The Omoda C9 features coupe-SUV styling with smooth lines and a sloping roof. However, the most striking visual element is the set of four exhaust pipes, which add an aggressive and sporty flair to the SUV's overall look. The SUV also features pop-out door handles, adding a touch of luxury to the vehicle's exterior.
The interior is expected to come with loads of premium features like leather seats, massage functions, heating, cooling, and adjustable reclining options for all seats. Adding to the luxury and comfort would be a 24.6-inch curved dual-screen display, augmented-reality navigation, facial recognition, a floating centre console separating the front seats, a nine-speaker Sony sound system, an ultra-fast wireless smartphone charger, and a full ADAS pack.
In terms of drivetrain, the China-spec Omoda C9 (also known as Exeed RX or Yaoguang) comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol generating a maximum power of 249 PS and a peak torque of 385 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
There is also a plug-in hybrid system that includes a 1.5-litre Miller cycle four-cylinder engine paired with either two or three electric motors, along with battery options of 19.43kWh or 34.46kWh.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned with us for further updates on the upcoming Omoda C9 launch in Malaysia.
