KUALA LUMPUR: All-new Nissan Almera has finally landed on Thai soil after teasing in the Kingdom for months. The result of this long break translates into an updated Almera sedan with a new front profile and an enhanced safety kit.

Exterior
As mentioned, the new Almera features a refreshed front end which now features a bold V-motion grille (as seen on the Nissan Versa). Rest all, on the side and rear, remains the same as the pre-facelift model.
Interior
While the new Almera’s cabin largely remains the same as before, the higher trims now receive new sporty blue trim across the dashboard and door trims. Also, part of the range-topping Almera variants is a wireless charger.
Powertrain
Powering the new Almera is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine generating a maximum power of 100 PS along with a peak torque of 152 Nm. Yes, it is the same unit seen in the previous-gen model, however, this time around the mill gets a bore spray coating on the cylinders.
The drive is sent to the front wheels via Nissan’s Xtronic CVT automatic transmission. The automaker claims the new Almera to offer an outstanding fuel economy of 23 kmpl.
Safety
Another major department where the new Almera showcases serious revision is safety. The sedan’s specs sheet now includes the following features -

- High beam assist (HBA)
- Lane departure warning (LDW)

The Thai-spec 2023 Almera is offered in four variant options, namely E, EL, V, and VL. The sedan price ranges from THB 549k to 699k (approx RM 72.5k-92.4k).
Nissan Almera in Malaysia
Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), the official distributor of Nissan cars in Malaysia launched the Almera three years ago and since then has not updated the sedan significantly. Therefore, we won’t mind seeing the facelifted version here in the local market. Right?
