New Ford Everest earns five stars rating from ANCAP
Kuala Lumpur: The all-new Ford Everest surprised everyone recently with its five-star Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating, with a score of 35.98 from a possible 37. The safety test results mentioned here are for Trend 4X4 auto model of Ford Everest. Although, one can apply the results for other variants of SUV as well.
“It is encouraging to see more 5 star ANCAP safety rated vehicles being released into the Australian and New Zealand markets giving consumers greater choice when buying a new vehicle,” ANCAP Chief Executive Officer James Goodwin said.
“Five-star ratings for both the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest demonstrates the increasing safety focus in the off-road SUV marketplace,” Mr Goodwin said.

Dual frontal, side chest, side head airbags (curtains) and driver knee airbags are standard on this seven-seater Everest. Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to front and second row seats. Advanced crash avoidance features are available on higher-priced variants.

The Everest scored 25.02 out of 36 points in the pedestrian protection test. While the central area of the bonnet provided predominantly good results, there were some poor results at the base of the A-pillars and for the upper legs towards the outer edges of the bumper.
Test results show that the hefty built body of Ford Everest, scored a 16.93 out of a possible 17 for adult and child head impacts. The SUV reduces damage in case of accident, all thanks to its protection zone provided for the driver and passenger heads and knee areas.

The Ford Everest made its local debut recently, offered with a choice of 3.2-litre or 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel engines. It is expected to join the SUV market officially, very soon, with a supposed three variants on offer to the occupants.
