New Citroen DS 4S Unveiled at Guangzhou Auto Show in China

Kuala Lumpur: DS Automobiles has recently unveiled the new Citroen DS 4S at Guangzhou Auto Show in China.The premium facelifted hatchback is a China-Only model that is fully-designed in France and produced at Citroen’s Shenzhen plant. Painted in a unique dark fire red colour, the exterior of new Citroen DS 4S features a lightly revised version of the recently-updated DS4's look.

The front grille, headlamps and other exterior designing elements have taken clues from the new DS4 facelift. The front bumper gets an additional LED strip on each end and slits that flow downwards from it. The stylish headlamps feature three LED modules with scrolling turn signals, cornering lights and moving directional headlamps.

The interior of new Citroen DS 4S flaunts red upholstery on the seats, dashboard and door cards. The automaker has said that each dashboard took up to eight hours to be made and embodies the spirit of Parisian luxury craftsmanship. The fully redesigned rear end of the car now offers more comfort for the rear passengers as DS Automobiles is claiming a “record-setting amount of leg room for the compact segment.” To make it possible, the automaker had to redesign the car’s architecture to make a longer wheelbase and incorporate a revised suspension setting.

 

The new Citroen DS 4S is built on the PSA's EMP2 platform, underpinning the new Peugeot 308. The profile of the facelifted hatchback looks similar to that of T9 308, and both could share more than just the platform. The powertrain of the premium China-only hatchback will feature three petrol engines: a 1.8-liter THP four-pot engine in 136hp and 204 hp variants and Citroen’s new EB2 Turbo engine. All engines will be mated to a six-speed EAT6 automatic transmission.

The New Citroen DS 4S will hit local auto showrooms of China in the first half of 2016, with the prices released just before.
