New Aston Martin V12 Vantage sold out even before its debut

Developed in an effort to celebrate the proud history of its lineage of V12-engined sports cars, Aston Martin today took the wraps off the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Will the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage come to Malaysia?

It is highly unlikely as all units were sold out before the launch
  • How powerful is the Aston Martin V12 Vantage?

The new Aston Martin V12 Vantage produces 753 PS and 700 Nm, and does the century sprint in 3.4 seconds
  • Limited to only 333 units globally, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage received overwhelming demand from purists and collectors worldwide. In fact, every unit out of the 333 were sold even before the model was unveiled today.

All it took was just three months for all units to be sold as Aston Martin only announced that it will be releasing the new V12 Vantage in December 2021.

One of the reasons for the new V12 Vantage to be swept up this quickly is also because this is the final time Aston Martin will be fitting the Twin Turbo V12 engine into the Vantage.

That being said, Aston Martin said that delivery of the new V12 Vantage to customers worldwide will begin in the second quarter of the year.

Powered by a 5.2-litre Twin Turbo V12 engine which produces 700 PS and 753 Nm of torque, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage is capable of accelerating from naught to 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds.

All 700 PS and 753 Nm of torque are sent to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission developed by ZF, and a mechanical Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which is mounted at the rear of the car.

In order to enhance the speed of gear shifts and response, Aston Martin used similar technologies used in the V12 Speedster and Vantage F1 edition models, which is a specially calibrated software which makes upshift and down-shifting much smoother and more refined, beyond what we experience with dual-clutch gearboxes.

Capable of achieving a top speed of 320 km/h, the performance of the newly unveiled sports car makes it the most powerful Vantage ever.

It is also worth mentioning here that the new Vantage V12’s aerodynamic package generates 204 kg of downforce at full speed.

If we are to compare it with the V8 Vantage, the V12 Vantage’s power-to-weight ratio of 390 PS-per-tonne is 20 percent higher than the former, thanks to excessive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre.

Components made of carbon fibre which contribute greatly towards the impressive power-to-weight ratio include the front bumper, clamshell bonnet, front fenders and side sills, as well as the composite rear bumper and deck lid.

Even the battery used in the car is made of special lightweight material. Further complementing the package is a special centre-mounted twin-exit exhaust system made of lightweight 1mm stainless steel which is 7.2 kg lighter than the V8 Vantage.

Handling department is taken care of by a new adaptive damping suspension system which comes with new anti-roll bars, bushing, spring, as well as other damper-related components.

Aston Martin claims that efforts have been put in to maintain the comfort level of the driver as well, by using a secondary tender spring at the rear quarter of the car.

It is said that the tender spring has a lower spring rate versus the main spring, which results in enhanced ride comfort without compromising the overall performance of the car.

Body rigidity has also increased by the British carmaker through the usage of additional front and rear shear panels, as well as extra fuel tank and strut braces.

Also new is the steering calibration which promises better steering feel and sharper response which translates into a very engaging driving experience.

Stopping power comes courtesy of carbon ceramic brakes that measure 410 mm in front and 360 mm at the rear.

Both are paired with four-piston calipers. According to Aston Martin, the brakes are capable of performing at optimum level at temperatures of up to 800 degrees.

The fact that the brakes are made of carbon ceramics mean that they are light as well. In case you’re wondering how light they are, the system is 23 kg lighter than steel brakes of the same size.

Sitting around the brakes are newly designed 21-inch alloy wheels that come in either satin black, satin black diamond turned, or the optional lightweight satin black which is even lighter by 8 kg.

The alloys are wrapped in Michelin Pilot 4S high performance tyres that measure 275 mm wide in front, and 315 mm wide at the rear.

On the exterior, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage rocks a radical looking wide body kit that was optimised for cornering performance on the race track. Made from carbon fibre, the wide body kit also includes a dramatic aerodynamic package.

The package includes a new front design and a full-width front splitter which doesn’t only improve airflow, but also make the car look fierce.

At the rear, we have a new and unique bumper that comes integrated with a diffuser which maintains the aerodynamic balance.

Inside, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage features new carbon fibre racing seats with an exposed carbon fibre shell and a manual six-way adjustment which is offered as an option.

A wide range of customisation options is available for customers for the interior, which means that every unit sold is unique in its own way, unlike another. Similar to the interior, the exterior also comes with a range of bold visuals and liveries.

Looking at the amount of gizmos and goodies Aston Martin has fitted into the new Vantage V12, and the fact that it will be the last V12-powered Vantage, it is no surprise that the model is sold out even before it was shown to the world.

So, even if you have the money, there is no guarantee that you can get your hands on one, unless someone in Malaysia has booked one and decides to sell it in the near future.
