KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese automaker Neta (owned by Hozon Hozon New Energy Automobile) has marked its official entry in Malaysia with the launch of the Neta V. It is a small and affordable electric car, priced at RM 100,000 (on the road without insurance). The Neta V is distributed through Intro Synergy in the local market, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GoAuto Group.

    Exterior

    The EV boasts a Dolphin Streamline-inspired design language with sharp and automatic halogen projector headlights and LED daytime running lights on the front. The rear profile is adorned with laser-engraved LED tail lights, a sporty rear spoiler, LED brake lights, and a sporty rear spoiler. The EV runs on 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 185/55 profile tyres.

    Drivetrain, range, and charging

    Based on the HPC platform, the Malaysia-spec Neta V comes powered by a front-mounted electric motor, which is tuned to deliver a maximum power of 95 PS and a peak torque of 160 Nm. The motor is fed by a 38.54 kWh CATL-sourced ternary lithium battery pack, providing a range of 380 km (on the NEDC cycle). Performance-wise, the car runs from zero to 50 kmph in 3.9 seconds and attains a top speed of 120 kmph. 

    When it comes to charging, this Chinese EV supports both AC and DC systems. With a 6.6 kW AC charging socket, the battery fully charges in eight hours. However, when using a 100 kW DC unit, it takes just 30 minutes to reach a 20-80% state of charge.

    Safety

    The safety pack of the EV comprises two airbags, an anti-lock braking system, an electronic brakeforce distribution system, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, passive cruise control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

    Optional packages

    The EV comes with two optional packages - the EV Starter Package and the Interest-free package. The former adds a home charger (including installation), a body kit, a powered tailgate, a vehicle-to-load adapter, tint film for windows, a CO2 eliminator, and insurance while the latter extends the financing term to 7 years, subject to specific terms and conditions.

    Warranty

    Neta Malaysia offers the EV with a 5-year/150,000 km warranty for general components, a 10-year, 200,000 km warranty for the body and an 8-year/180,000 km warranty for high-voltage components such as the battery and onboard charger.
