While there is no still no official confirmation on Xpander facelift launch in Malaysia, we expect the refreshed seven-seater MPV will soon make its way to local shores after hitting the Thai market.Introduced last year in Indonesia, the all-new Xpander boasts significant design changes, upgraded features, and some important tweaks under the skin. The latter comprises a revised suspension system offering better comfort with new high-performance damper valves at both ends.
Under the hood, the tried and tested 1.5-litre inline four-pot gasoline gets a new external exhaust gas re-circulation system for better mileage. However, the power and torque figures remain the same at 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Also new with the facelifted version is a Continuously Variable Transmission that replaced the four-speed auto unit.
In terms of design, the new 2022 Xpander sports a Dynamic Shield front profile with a restyled grille and new LED headlights incorporated in a T-shape casing. The fog lights benefit from body-colored trim surrounds and are also better integrated on the lower apron now.
Just like the front, Mitsubishi also revamped the rear fascia of the SUV with a new bumper, new deck lid as well as new LED tail lights. Complementing the refreshed front and rear looks are the new 17-inch machined two-tone alloy wheels. Along with designing tweaks, the Mitsubishi Xpander dimensions are also changed a bit.
Inside, the new Thai-spec Xpander is likely to get a new touchscreen display, a single-zone automatic climate control system, a new steering wheel, an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold function, and a rear USB charging port.
