MG to introduce new models in 2024, Cyberster included
KUALA LUMPUR: In the year 2024, MG will turn 100. Celebrating its century run, the brand plans to introduce several exciting new models, including Cyberster.
Revealed for the first time at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the Cyberster electric sports car was confirmed to enter production shortly after SAIC received more than 500 registration via a crowdfunding platform.
In Europe, MG is doing pretty well with its models like the MG5 Electric and ZS EV and now the brand plans to further its reach and appeal to a younger crowd via new products. This new product line will be designed by Cyber that stands for - Co-creating, Young, Beyond, Evolution, and Recreation.
“We are working on a surprise for you guys. Of course we know we were the affordable sports car brand in the past, and now we are the new electric vehicle brand, and we will surprise you. We will be in markets that nobody has been in before,” said an MG Spokesman.
The MG Cyberster is one of the confirmed models to arrive in 2024. Though the production-version won’t look as futuristic as the concept, it would incorporate the brand heritage with advanced design and cutting edge technology - said MG UK design boss, Carl Goham. He further added,“Sports cars are the lifeblood of the MG DNA, and the Cyberster is a hugely exciting concept for us,”.
Any technical specifications? Nothing is known as of now, but MG claims that the Cyberster hit the century spot on the speedometer in under three seconds. Also, a range of 800 km on a single charge is promised by the company. No details about the e-motor (output, capacity) are known as of now.
