MG released sketches of two-seater convertible concept
KUALA LUMPUR: MG is known for its affordable lineup of crossovers and sedans. So, it is the case with the brand ever since it was purchased by SAIC (a Chinese automaker) back in 2006. But for auto enthusiasts, the MG brand continues to remain associated with powerful roadsters the brand used to sell back in the days like the classic Midget, MG A, and MG B.
The last convertible that came out from the automaker’s production line was the MG TF. And now, it might add one in its lineup again. Well, MG recently released sketches of a concept called the Cyberster. It is a two-seat convertible concept that is said to be revealed this month.
The British automaker has not released any technical details about the concept. However, from the sketches, it looks like a traditional roadster with a long hood and small cabin. The overall design is relatively modern, with no retro touches. The MG roadster concept features sharp angles all-around along with LED round headlights, and Union Jack LED taillights.
No information about the powertrain is shared at the moment by the automaker. However, based on the concept’s name and the fact that its wheels are emitting light, we strongly feel that it could be an electric roadster.
An electric roadster from MG will surely excite the enthusiasts. And it is great to see MG returning to its roadster roots. Assuming that it’ll enter production soon, once out in the open, the MG Cyberster concept will battle with the likes of Mazda MX-5 and Tesla’s upcoming Roadster.
