Mercedes teases its first lifestyle van
KUALA LUMPUR: A lot is happening under the Mercedes roof these days. Recently, the automaker was spotted testing the next-gen Citan, which it has confirmed will be built in cooperation with Renault. Now, the German automaker has teased yet another vehicle, a small van that goes by the name T-Class.
The T-Class is said to be “tailored to the needs of families whilst also being a suitable companion for active leisure enthusiasts.” This Mercedes van will be launched in the first half of 2022 and will be more of a small lifestyle-oriented van serving private customers.
Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Marcus Breitschwerdt explained the overall concept behind the T-Class by saying that customers these days seek practical and attractive vehicles, and the T-Class will fulfil all these demands.
When Mercedes first launched the Citan, the MPV was criticised for just being a rebadged Renault model. Therefore this time around, the automaker wants to make sure that its successor at the very first glance looks like a member of the Mercedes-Benz family. This means that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Citan will feature a distinctive design language, higher quality material, and advanced technologies. Sounds promising, right?
At the moment, we don’t have much information in hand about the Mercedes-Benz T-Class, except that it’ll be available in both all-electric and ICE-powered versions. Also, like a conventional van, the T-Clas will feature two sliding doors, one on each side that’ll call for ‘easy and comfortable access’ to the cabin.
More information about the Mercedes-Benz T-Class is expected in the months to come. So stay tuned with Zigwheels Malaysia for all the latest updates on the subject.
