Mercedes introduces AMG CLA 45 4Matic+

KUALA LUMPUR: In addition to the all-new A 45, the German automaker, Mercedes-Benz has now introduced the C118 AMG CLA 45 4Matic+. It is perfect for buyers looking for a premium car with coupe-like styling and more boot space than what the hot hatch offers.

Under the hood, it gets the same mechanical setup as the A 45. So, there’s an M139 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol mill which on the base model churns 387 PS at 6,500 rpm and 480 Nm at 4,750 rpm. On the range-topping trim, the unit makes 421 PS at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm at 5,000 rpm. Irrespective to the variant picked, with this model rest assured about more power over the CLA 35. The mill is paired to an 8-speed AMG Speedshift DCT 8G dual-clutch gearbox and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully-variable all-wheel-drive system. The later comes with AMG Torque Control, and it’s present in the rear axle differential. Also, joining the engine kit are two electronically controlled multi-disc clutches, both connected to a rear axle driveshaft.

The powerplant here benefits from baffle plates for the oil sump, all-aluminium crankcase, two-stage fuel injection (direct and port), forged steel crankshaft, optimised-positioning of the injectors, forged aluminium pistons, larger exhaust valves, and Nanoslide-coated cylinders. During spirited driving sessions, an electric water pump keeps down under cool.

The above configuration helps the car to achieve 0 to 100 kmph mark in 4.1 seconds along with a top speed of 250 kmph for the base model. As for the A 45 S, it completes the 100 kmph sprint in 4.0seconds and can hit 240 kmph.

On the exterior, the car showcases large air intakes, Panamericana grille, Quad exhausts with a different diameter (82 mm in the base and 90 mm in S model), boot lid spoiler, and diffuser with four individual fins. Customers can also opt for AMG Aerodynamic package with an additional diffuser blade, larger rear spoiler lip, a front splitter and additional flics, and additional diffuser blade. There is also an AMG Night and Silver Chrome packages as optional.

The cabin is wrapped in black Artico man-made leather and Dinamica microfibre, however, buyers can also opt for a full Artico leather get-up in neva black/grey with light-longitudinal-grain aluminium trim and mid-grey double topstitching.

Included in the cabin feature list is an AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG-specific displays for the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, sport seats, red rings on the air vents, yellow highlights (S model only), and red designo seat belts.
