Mercedes-Benz V-Class – V 220 d, open for sale at RM435k

Kuala Lumpur: Mercedes- Benz V-220 D is available for sale in Malaysia. The car was being previewed at the showrooms from a long time, and now Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has formally announced the availability of the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class. The all new V220 D is a third generation of the German aristocracy. It is a big six-seater (seven seats optional) people-carrier, which is now open for sale through MBM's passenger car division all over Malaysia.

The V-Class will be made available in two variants, moniker as V 220 d and V 220 d Avantgarde, with prices starting at RM434,888 on-the-road without insurance, however the prices for the flagship V class Avantgarde has not been revealed yet.

There are a lot of differences among the two models. With V220 d, you will only get automatic halogen reflector headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels on the outside with just a single sliding door fitted on the driver's side. Towards the interiors, there is a basic Audio 20 infotainment system, single-zone auto air-con, a 5.5-inch TFT LCD colour multi-info display, fabric upholstery and piano black trim.

However, stepping up to the V220 D Avantgarde, there is a whole new story. This flagship of the V class is bolstered with a plethora of features including adaptive LED headlights, LED tail lights, an Easy Pack powered tailgate, a partitioned load bay and some chrome exterior trim, including on the tailgate. It also features a second sliding door on the left, which is absent on the standard model.

Apart from the exteriors, the interiors have been equally defined with Lugano leather upholstery, Nappa leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and gear lever as well as ambient interior lighting, dark brown ash wood-look trim, along with Agility Control suspension with selective damping.

The story is not over yet because the German luxury comes with wide options which can easily convert a family van into an S-Class van. The further additions include a 360-degree parking camera, a 16-speaker Burmeister sound system and swivelling front seats, power-adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, an updated COMAND Online system with navigation. Also, there is an option to convert the stand six seats into a bench rear seating.

The V220 D is powered by a Mercedes’ 2.1-litre four-pot turbodiesel engine which efficiently churns out 163 hp and 380 Nm coupled with its seven-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission loaded with steering wheel shift paddles.

Mercedes-Benz is widely acclaimed for its safe cars, the all-new V class is loaded with a Standard safety kit which includes six airbags, hill-start assist, Attention Assist and Crosswind Assist and stability control. Apart from it there is also a long list including Collision Prevention Assist, Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, Traffic Sign Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Adaptive Highbeam Assist, for an additional input.
