Mercedes-Benz Malaysia welcomes Amanda Zhang as new CEO & President

KUALA LUMPUR: Amanda Zhang is the new CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region for Mercedes-Benz Cars SEA II, effective from August 1, 2023. She succeeded Sagree Sardien, who will be now handling the role of Head of Region Overseas, Mercedes-Benz Cars in Stuttgart.

Zhang began her career journey through Daimler's International Management Associate Programme over 20 years ago. Her notable achievements include - 

• She managed intricate international projects, including the "Journey to China," which involved relocating all wholesale operations from Hong Kong to Beijing
• Zhang held the position of CEO at Mercedes-Benz Romania where she took care of four business divisions. Her efforts led the company to achieve double-digit growth in sales and customer services. She also implemented electrification strategies and revitalised the dealer network in Romania

• In Europe, she nurtured the regional team and created the foundation for the current Experience Centre
• She also played a key role in ramping up customer journey operations, including setting up a Salesforce CRM Hub in Bucharest for the European markets

Upon taking up the new role, Amanda Zhang, “I am truly honoured to take on this new role in Malaysia and SEA II. Sardien took charge in June 2021. During her tenure, she drove Mercedes-Benz's global vision for eco-friendly luxury cars, with the introduction of a fleet of world-class luxury EVs, including the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4MATIC. She also played a key role in enhancing customer experiences through the digital Retail of the Future and strengthened the brand's corporate citizenship through various community initiatives.
