Mercedes-Benz Malaysia teases the arrival of AMG GT facelift

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-AMG GT facelift has been teased for an upcoming Malaysia-launch with a brief video, which was posted on its social media platforms. The video depicts a shadowy look, which is good enough to identify that the car’s front end is revised.

During the 2018 LA Auto Show, the AMG GT range received an update. It is available with nine variants. The latest AMG GT range includes GT, GT S, GT R, and GT C and these trims are available with either a convertible or a coupe version. A limited-edition version namely GT R Pro is also there in the line-up.

Under the hood, Mercedes-AMG’s own 4.0 litre V8 bi-turbo M178 engine is provided. The GT model comes with a V8 engine that can make a maximum power of 476 PS, while the peak torque is 630 Nm. For the GT S variant, the engine churns out a maximum power of 522 PS, while the peak torque is 670 Nm.

On the other hand, the mill of the GT C variant can make a maximum power of 557 PS along with a peak torque of 680 Nm. Both the GT R and GT R Pro offer a maximum power of 585 PS with the peak torque of 700 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed transaxle dual-clutch gearbox.

Design-wise, the new Mercedes-AMG GT facelift gets restyled LED headlamps along with new light guides. There is a familiar Panamericana grille that holds a three-chamber reflector system. The LED taillights of the car are slightly enhanced. There is a new black diffuser insert along with new tailpipe setups. However, the new tailpipe setups are present on selective versions.

The carmaker has not disclosed which variants will arrive in Malaysia. It looks like the official announcement will be made soon.
