Mercedes-Benz Malaysia spreads Christmas joy via its “Christmas in a Shoebox” Programme
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia brings joy to over 30 children from Rumah K.I.D.S by throwing a fun-filled, heart-warming party. Part of the company’s annual social initiative that is currently in its 11th installation, known as “Christmas in a Shoebox”, the party was held at Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Club.
Ms. Sagree Sardien, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said “Children bring so much joy into our lives and they are our future. At Mercedes-Benz, social responsibility is one of our core values and is firmly anchored in our value system. We are committed to nurturing and empowering these little ones and hope to support them as much as possible to build a better tomorrow. Throughout our 11 years of this Christmas in a Shoebox initiative, our employees have come together to give back to the community in a meaningful way and we’re glad to be able to organize this with Datuk Nicol David through her new organization.”
The event was organized by Mercedes-Benz in partnership with Nicol David Organization (NDO). And the fun began with Mercedes-Benz employees chauffeuring the kids to the celebration spot. The kids participated in an array of fun, interactive, and exciting sport tele-matches that targets talent development, build team spirit, and inculcate values.
After all the playing, the little guests from Rumah K.I.D.S were treated with a sumptuous lunch. And were surprised by a special appearance by Sanata and Mrs. Claus who came bearing gifts. The roles were played by Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Michale Jopp, and President & CEO Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Sagree Sardien, respectively. As for the gifts, they were purchased based on the children’s Christmas wish list.
Apart from the Christmas joy the company spreads every year, in 2022, Mercedes-Benz will expand its involvement in the community. It will further strengthen its partnership with NDO to build a positive future for children. The collaboration aims to kids from B40 and M40 families around the three core values of respect, confidence, and positivity. They will be taught valuable life skills around healthy habits and self-awareness and their English proficiency will also get a boost.
Datuk Nicol David, Founder of Nicol David Organization, “Having worked with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia for many years, their commitment is evident, and we are overjoyed to have them onboard for this partnership. This is the new beginning for NDO and myself to give back to the local community and to share the knowledge that I gained from my squash career. I realized that I had other experiences from squash that I can tap onto and do new things to create an impact. Through this platform and the support of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, I believe we can together create an impact to nurture our next generation.”
