Mercedes Benz Malaysia Sales Figure Hits New Record in Third Quarter
Kuala Lumpur: German automaker Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) recently presented its sales figures for the third quarter of 2015. This has marked the third consecutive quarter of four-digit sales figure recorded by this group. Mercedes was able to sell 3,033 vehicles in the third quarter which is a 109% increase from 1,451 vehicles sold in the same period last year. Out of the total sales volume in that period, the locally-produced Mercedes Benz sedan models like the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class contributed to the majority of units sold with 2,188 units. Out of this, the C-Class alone was able to record a sales figure of 861 units, followed by E-Class with 679 units and lastly the S-Class with 648 units.

The company’s new president and CEO, Dr. Claus Weidne said, “We are moving from strength to strength and have certainly topped historical sales figures for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. The three consecutive four-digit sales figures in the third quarter of 2015 is a welcomed addition to our string of record quarters.” He further added “The Mercedes-Benz brand is set for another record year in Malaysia with the enhanced portfolio of the C-Class, combined with reduced prices, our upcoming launch of the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars, and further exciting announcements in the coming months. I’m confident of further strengthening the Mercedes-Benz brand in the Malaysia market.”

As reported by the company, Malaysia is currently the biggest market for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Southeast Asia. Talking about compact cars segment, a total of 838 units were sold in the third quarter which is an increase of 87% as compared to last year. Among these, the CLA Coupe was star performer with 301 units sold, followed by GLA SUV with 299 units sold and lastly the A-Class with 238 units sold. Mark Raine, MBM's vice president of sales and marketing also expressed their intention of reducing the price for the whole C-Class model line with a range starting from RM248,888 to RM287,888. The announcement was also made regarding two new variants to join the C-Class namely C 200 Exclusive and C 250 AMG.
