Mercedes-Benz introduces portable wallbox charger for EVs, starting from RM 4,300

KUALA LUMPUR: Amidst the global push towards sustainable transportation solutions, Mercedes-Benz continues to be at the forefront, delivering innovative solutions to meet the needs of today's environmentally-conscious consumers. The German automaker recently unveiled its latest Flexible Charging System Pro to simplify the charging experience for its electric vehicle owners.

Designed as a “transportable wall box,” the new Mercedes-Benz Flexible Charging System Pro supports a variety of European socket types and has the potential to deliver charging power of up to 22 kW, depending on the infrastructure's specifications. It can identify different power sources, be it from a household outlet, three-phase setup, or public charging station. 

Upon plugging in, the charging system automatically adjusts to the ideal charging power, ensuring a smooth charging process. Safety is prioritised with features like fault current detection and temperature monitoring, safeguarding both the electric vehicle and its owner. Designed to survive brief submersion in water, it is leak-proof as well as water-proof.

The latest tech also allows customers to monitor their EV's charging process remotely with the help of the Mercedes-Benz Charger App. Owners can preconfigure charging preferences for convenient daily use, set energy targets, and adjust energy costs. The app also records user activity, allowing for easy monitoring of energy consumption. Additionally, the system features WLAN connectivity to facilitate over-the-air updates.

The Mercedes-Benz Flexible Charging System Pro comes with a premium bag that allows EV owners to store and carry it wherever necessary. Weighing around 5 kg, the system is designed for ease of use.  

Priced at approximately EUR 715 (approximately equal to RM 4,300), the charging system will be initially offered in the EU, UK, and Switzerland. It will be rolled out to other markets at a later stage.

With the newly introduced Flexible Charging System Pro, Mercedes-Benz aims to address the evolving needs of EV owners and contribute to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles worldwide.
