Mercedes-Benz introduces new Flexible Charging System to promote EV sales
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Flexible Charging System is an effort by the brand to boost the sales of its EQ vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
What is the Flexible Charging System?
It is essentially a multi-adapter charging tool, a charging solution that offers customers several options to charge their electric-powered cars that too from multiple sources. Electric-powered car owners who travel long distances will certainly benefit from this new charging system.
When Mercedes says multiple sources, it means public charging stations, household sockets, wall boxes, and industrial plug points. Further, easing the charging process, the system offers a simple 'plug and play' solution with an integrated Type 2 connector that allows charging up to 22 kW from any AC source.
The new Mercedes Flexible Charging System would be a definite hit among the buyers considering that the brand will be launching more than 20 PHEV and EV models in the current year. Existing customers need not worry, as the company has assured that the new multi-adapter charging tool will be compatible with all its existing EVs.
How much does the Flexible Charging System cost?
Currently limited to its home country Germany, the Flexible Charging System is priced at 1225 euros (approx. RM 6000). Yes, it's a bit expensive but will surely give a lot of peace of mind to someone who travels a lot and therefore is on the lookout for suitable charging points.
