Mercedes-Benz EQS makes its global debut
KUALA LUMPUR: The much-awaited and talked about Mercedes-Benz EQS has finally made its global debut. It enters the brand line-up as a top-of-the-line, battery-powered, flagship electric vehicle that will lead the change for the company in the electric sedan segment.

Manufacturing: The EQS SUV will be built at the automaker’s Tuscaloosa-based US plant
Platform: The EQS is the third Mercedes EV to be based on the company’s new modular architecture for luxury EVs
Dimensions: The latest Mercedes-Benz EV measures 5,130 mm in length, 1,955 mm in width, and 1,727 mm in height. Its wheelbase stretches to 3,200 mm
Variants: In the US market, the EQS will be offered in two variant options, the 450+ and 580 4MATIC
Powertrain: The EQS 450+ is powered by the rear axle located Permanently Excited Synchronous Motor that pumps out 355 hp and 568 Nm of torque. The range-topping 580 4MATIC SUV gets a PSM motor on each axle leading to a max power output of 536 hp and 858 Nm.
Charging: With a DC fast charger, the EQS charges 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. In case of a more convenient AC charging, the EV will take around 11.25 hours to get fully charged
Range: The EV claims a range of around 600 km on a full charge
Braking & Handling: The EQS emphasizes the same comfort, refinement, and performance as any other luxurious Mercedes offering. It comes with AIRMATIC Air Suspension with Adaptive Damping System, 10-degree rear-axle steering, multiple drive modes, and a number of advanced driver assistance systems
Features: The 450+ trim gets a 12.8-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch driver display. The 580 4MATIC, on the other hand, comes with a sweeping 56-inch curved glass display, and two 11.6-inch displays at the rear
