Mercedes-Benz EQ C electric SUV teased
KUALA LUMPUR: For quite some time now, it is known that Mercedes-Benz has been working on its first ever complete electric vehicle. It has now released a teaser of the car ahead of its official unveiling.
The upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQ C SUV is based on the EQ Concept model unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year. Following that, it was also displayed at the Auto Expo 2018 and is awaiting its debut soon. It is currently undergoing testing phase in the United States and Southern Europe, that includes 500 tests that the company will be undertaking for every new vehicle produced.
The Mercedes-Benz EQ C is also the first ever car to be offered by the EQ sub-brand of the giant German automaker, which will be making all-electric vehicles only. Once launched, it will go up against the likes of similar players like Audi e-Tron, Tesla Model X, and the new Jaguar I-Pace.
Coming to the new teaser, the company has shown a picture of the headlamps. However, the most striking feature about it is the strip of DRLs, which passes over the headlamps and continues right across the top of the grille. But then, there wasn’t any exact specification displayed as of now. However, it is expected to be a break-through vehicle in the pure electric segment. And for this, we can expect it to get a 70 kWh Li-ion battery which could be capable of making over 400 PS of power and have a driving range of around 500 kilometres at the same time.
As promised before, Mercedes-Benz will launch the EQ C SUV in 2019. But as of now, we can only await further details of the car as the company drops hints along the way, frequently enough.
