Meet Lamborghini’s off-road supercar concept, the Huracan Sterrato
KUALA LUMPUR: In order to create a potent off-road car, all you need is a big, powerful engine that’s paired to a robust AWD system. Lamborghini is a brand that rarely works recklessly and hits problematic paths. However, this sheer nature of the brand has not stopped it from trying its hand on a potent off-road fun concept. The automaker has revealed the Huracan Sterrato, that by the looks of it seems ready for any challenge you throw towards it.
The car’s light bars, wheel arches, and even the raised suspension reflect its off-road tag. Powering the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is the same mill that does duty on the Huracan Evo. The naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine churns out a maximum power of 640 hp. In addition to the mill, Sterrato also gets Evo’s LDVI, i.e., Lamborghini Dinamica Vecolo Integrata, aka, the brain of the supercar. The said system controls operations like four-wheel steering, four-wheel drive, torque vectoring, and more, by successfully anticipating driver’s future move. For the supercar concept, Lamborghini calibrated LDV, thus providing for enhanced acceleration and traction along with improved rear-wheel drive behaviour.
The hardware of the Huracan Sterrato has also been upgraded. The ride height is increased by 47 mm, providing a better approach and departure angle. Contributing to the car’s aggressive stance are elements like - 20-inch wheels wrapped in balloon tyres, wide front and rear track (30 mm more), and new widebody wheel arches.
Lamborghini has added a ton load of protective features in its supercar concept. At the front, is the aluminium reinforcements on the frame that’s protected by aluminium skid plate, and the rear skid plate acts as a diffuser and provides added underbody protection. Other protective elements seen on the Huracan Sterrato are carbon fibre and elastomeric resin mudguards, aluminium-reinforced side skirts, and protective composite bodywork around the engine and air intakes.
The exterior showcases an all-rugged look and further adding to its appeal are the LED bumper lights, and roof-mounted LED light bar. Though no interior image is available as of now, the carmaker says that Sterrato gets a sporty cabin. Included in its specs sheet are - new carbon bi-shell sports seats, a titanium roll cage, aluminum floor panels, and four-point seatbelts.
The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is just a concept supercar for now, with no news of it entering into production any time soon.
