Meet Chery’s new compact SUV, the Omoda 3

KUALA LUMPUR: Ahead of the highly-anticipated Omoda 5 launch in Malaysia, Chery has introduced the all-new Omoda 3 in China. The latest model is a compact SUV that sits below the Omoda 5 in the brand’s lineup. It is said to be a sister model to the Tiggo 3X which received a major facelift in 2022.

Let’s get to know the Chery Omoda 3 key highlights -

• The SUV boasts a unique exterior styling with several standout features like a dual-tier lighting setup and dashed lines on the upper LED daytime running lights, which seamlessly merge with the front grille
• The main headlights of the car are positioned at the corners of the lower apron along with the fog lights

• What accentuates the new Omoda 3 side profile is a rising beltline paired with a black body-cladding
• The rear end is kitted with high-mounted tail lights joined by a light bar and a silver trim on the bumper
• The SUV rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped with 205/50 profile tyres

• Lending the SUV a vibrant and sporty look are orange accents on the front, side skirts, roof rails, and door mirrors
• Inside, the new Chery SUV is equipped with a digital instrument cluster featuring red ambient lighting elements, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and a manual air-conditioning system 

According to the reports, the Chery Omoda 3 is currently in pre-production form and thus no details are yet available regarding its engine specifications. However, we may expect a 1.5-litre NA four-cylinder petrol engine under its bonnet that is found on the Tiggo 3X in China. The said mill kicks out a maximum power of 116 hp and a peak torque of 143 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.
