Mazda CX-90 teased ahead of debut; will replace the CX-9

KUALA LUMPUR: Almost a year back, Mazda announced the expansion of its SUV line-up with 5 new models to be introduced over the span of two years. Well, we have already witnessed the global premiere of two of them - the CX-50 and the CX-60 and now it’s time to buckle up for the third one, which is none other than the CX-90. 

Mazda has recently started the teaser campaigning of the upcoming SUV with the reveal of its worldwide debut timeline and some key specifications. Talking about the former, the Mazda CX-90 will be globally revealed in January 2023 and will hit the US showrooms first as a 2024 model. 

Time to check out the CX-90 teaser image and its so far known specifications -

• The teaser displays the car’s front side with an "Inline6" badge positioned on the fender. It confirms that the SUV will be powered by an inline-six unit just like the CX-60. However, which of the brand’s inline-six drivetrains will be seen under the hood of the CX-90 is yet to be revealed

• Part of the company’s Large Product group, the three-row SUV is set to become Mazda’s new flagship SUV by replacing the ongoing CX-9 
• The car underpins the brand’s Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture comprising a front-engine longitudinal layout and a rear-wheel drive system
• The teaser showcased the CX-90 in an all-new colour tone, called Artisan Red. According to the automaker, this shade has been exclusively created for its large platform models. It is a combination of three different layers  - a translucent paint layer, a clear layer, and a reflective/absorptive layer.

• The design language of the car appears to be a continuation of the brand's Kodo design language with smooth and curvy surfaces utilising the power of shadow and light
• While Mazda did not mention anything about the car’s interiors, it is expected to offer more space for passengers, especially in the three-row row

More details on the Mazda CX-90 are likely to be revealed near its global debut slated for January 2023.
