Malaysia Gets it's First BMW i Showroom
Kuala Lumpur: Auto Bavaria (AB), which is Malaysia's largest authorised BMW dealer today has opened country's very first BMW i showroom and service centre. This showroom has been opened at its Kuala Lumpur branch in Jalan Tun Razak which is close to Ampang Park/Intermark Junction. The whole showroom is spread out in a total of 1383 square feet of area on the first floor of the building. The showroom also features BMW I brand's identity, furniture and fittings. One can also find the all-new BMW i8 displayed there which is world's first plug-in hybrid sports car along with a wall mounted charging accessory known as BMW i Wallbox. Currently, only i8 would be made available in Malaysia as there is no news for the i3 hatchback.

The opening ceremony of this showroom was conducted by BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO, Alan Harris. He said, “Introduced earlier this year at the BMW World Malaysia 2015, BMW i is about the development of futuristic vehicles and mobility services with inspiring design and a new understanding of premium that is strongly defined by sustainability. With BMW i, the BMW Group has changed the premium automotive industry and with this new BMW i facility from Auto Bavaria, we are able to develop the BMW i brand further here in the country”. Alan harris also assured that a dedicated team has been appointed to serve the BMW i customers. One can visit any BMW dealership and get their i8 handled by a qualified personnel.
Further, Auto Bavaria managing director, Jeffrey Gan said, “Customers of the BMW i8 can be rest assured that our BMW i centre will offer excellent day to day support for their BMW i vehicle. This includes service and maintenance appointments as well as vehicle repairs and on the road assistance, with a dedicated mobile charging device for owners courtesy of our BMW i Mobile Care Centre.”

Originally revealed at the BMW World Malaysia 2015 event in April, this car is integrated with a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine which churns out a maximum power of 231 hp along with a peak torque of 320 Nm. Further, this engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox which sends it's power to the rear wheels. Apart from that, a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery is also provided which helps the electric motor to produce 131 hp and 250 Nm to be transferred to front wheels. So in total, combining the engine and electric motor, this car produces a maximum output of 362 hp along with a peak torque of 570 Nm. From a position of halt, this car takes just 4.4 seconds to reach an acceleration of 100 kmph.
