Malaysia-bound Chery Tiggo 7 Pro gets 5-star ANCAP safety rating
KUALA LUMPUR: Set to launch in Malaysia in 2024, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, has successfully passed the ANCAP (Australasian New-Car Assessment Program) crash tests with a 5-star rating. The mid-size Chery SUV was assessed under the latest 2023-2025 test criteria and demonstrated all-round performance.

Among the standard safety features of the SUV are dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting airbags, side head-protecting airbags for both the first and second rows, and a driver knee airbag. Additionally, a centre airbag, providing extra protection in side impact crashes, is included as standard, ensuring maximum head protection for the two front-seat occupants in the side impact test.
Speaking about the advanced-driver assistance bits, there is an autonomous emergency braking system, which covers the full range of current test scenarios (car-to-car, vulnerable road user, junction and crossing, backover and head-on), along with a lane support system with active lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and emergency lane keeping.
According to the ANCP report, the AEB Car-to-Car system and lane support in the Tiggo 7 Pro performed really well in tests. It did a good job of reacting on different types of roads, like those without markings and with lines, to help prevent crashes and keep the car on the road.
The soon-to-arrive Chery SUV rivals the likes of the Proton X70, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5. It underpins the brand’s T1X platform and is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo mill generating a maximum power of 147 PS and a peak torque of 210 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.
Parts of the equipment kit are - LED headlamps, LED DRLs, a full-width LED tail light bar, a powered tailgate, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch driver display, a 10.25-inch central unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree around view monitor, voice control, wireless charging, LED ambient lighting, and a panoramic glass roof.
