Malaysia Autoshow 2019: Honda Civic Type R Mugen Concept showcased

KUALA LUMPUR: It is the advent of Malaysia Autoshow 2019 and all the auto manufacturers have chartered space to showcase their might. Also in the race is Honda Malaysia, which is showcasing the FK8 Civic Type R Mugen Concept, making the four-wheeler’s first appearance in Southeast Asia.

Japanese tuner, Mugen has employed much of its bodykit over this aggressive looking four-wheeler. The vehicle’s prototype was first shown at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, which took place in January. Comparing the production version to its prototype, one would easily conclude that it retains most of the kit modules. Having said this, there are a few changes done with the car. This starts with the glossy Carnival Red body colour that undoubtedly looks more teasing than the dull white outlook used in the prototype. There are also visible tweaks in some modules like the rear spoiler and replacement of the twin exhaust outlet with three units.

Alterations are also extended to the interior, where the most highlighting modification is the red sports seats with black accents compared to the entirely black ones of the prototype. Changes also include carbon-fibre trim on the dashboard and doors, followed by red coloured leather engulfing on the gear lever knob and a sports mat. Moreover, the vehicle runs on 20-inch multi-spoke wheels enclosed within Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

Since there are no words for remoulding of the powertrain, Civic Type R is likely to arm the same 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine of the prototype.
