Lamborghini Huracan STO super sports car to arrive soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Lamborghini has announced its latest offering, the Huracan STO that is scheduled to arrive later this year. This one will be a road-homologated super sports car that takes inspiration from the automaker’s Huracan EVO Super Trofeo sports car and Huracan EVO GT3. The former is developed by the Lamborghini Squadra Cosa department for the automaker’s very own race series, while the latter is the two-time winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring and three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Before moving forward with the powertrain, we need to clarify that STO here stands for Super Trofeo Omologata. The latest rear-wheel drive Lamborghini is powered by a naturally-aspirated V10 power plant that generates a maximum power of 640 hp and a peak torque of 565 Nm. On the performance front, the Huracan STO is said to complete a century sprint in three seconds, while it takes 9 seconds to touch the double century figure. It can attain a top speed of 310 kmph.

Thanks to its various superior elements the Lamborghini Huracan STO is no less than a sports car. For instance, it showcases superior aerodynamic efficiency, uses lightweight materials, class-leading braking performance, and unfettered steering.

What makes the Lamborghini Huracan such a powerful car?

The Lamborghini Huracan is a solid, powerful car, and making it possible are several crucial elements. One of which is COFANGO, a ‘Made in Lamborghini’ design solution. The word Cofango was coined by Automobili Lamborghini and is derived from the fusion of two Italian words - cafano, which means hood, and parafango, which means fender. And it describes the design solution in which the fender, hood, and front bumper integrated into a single unit. Inspired by Lamborghini Miura and Sesto Elemento, in STO the component is made from very light carbon fibre material. The Cofango in STO is developed by the automaker’s in-house R&D team and is made using an innovative 3DCpriniting tech.

Also, the Lamborghini Huracan STO has a three-second dynamic pit-stop timing. The car offers three new driving modes - STO (normal), Trofeo (race), and Pioggia (rain or wet), all of which adapt to the set-up of the car and tallies a high-performance driving environment.

Before commencing with the road test, the Lamborghini R&D team drove the Huracan STO a distance equivalent to three trips around the globe. Furthermore, the automaker’s state-of-the-art tech-enabled its engineers to save time on the lead time, quality control, and emission, by testing and certifying every part during STO’s development.

Building the Lamborghini Huracan is no less than working on elaborated artwork. It has over 2,750 components, so a lot of patience is required. The car also features an advanced connected telemetry system that creates a link between the Huracan STO on-board cameras and the Lamborghini UNICA app.
