KIA EV9 launched in Malaysia - From RM367k, 505km driving range, 380hp/700Nm

KUALA LUMPUR: Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of the Kia brand in Malaysia, has announced that the All-New Kia EV9 is now available, starting at RM 368,888.00.

This marks the official introduction of Kia's first dedicated three-row flagship SUV, the Kia EV9, which is constructed on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Two seating configurations are available, each designed to cater to different preferences and needs.

• Kia EV9 GT-Line (AWD) 6-Seater : RM374,668

Launched globally in March 2023, the model has already garnered significant accolades, including the 2024 World Car of The Year and the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 in the Cars and Motorcycle category.

The Kia EV9 is a testament to Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy, blending bold, futuristic styling with elements inspired by nature. The exterior boasts a dynamic "Digital Tiger Face" and a "Digital Pattern Lighting Grille," enhancing its sophisticated and modern appeal. Its substantial dimensions include a 3,100mm wheelbase and 21-inch alloy wheels, contributing to its commanding presence on the road.

Inside, the EV9 caters to millennial families with its spacious, adaptable design that emphasizes comfort and cutting-edge technology. In Malaysia, it's offered in six and seven-seat configurations, providing flexible seating arrangements and features such as reclining seats for the first and second rows, enhancing passenger comfort. The interior also incorporates sustainable materials, emphasizing Kia's commitment to eco-friendly solutions.

Technologically advanced, the EV9 is equipped with dual 12.3-inch touchscreens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system. It also features an array of safety technologies, including 10 SRS airbags and advanced driving assists like Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Smart Cruise Control.

The EV9’s electric powertrain features a 99.8 kWh battery and dual motors, providing up to 505 kilometers of range per charge. It also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, which allows it to power external devices. The all-wheel drive (AWD) EV delivers a power output of 380 hp and 700 Nm of torque for a high-performance driving experience.

With the help of an 11 kW AC socket, the Kia EV9 GT-Line achieves a 10-80% state of charge in approx eight hours. Alternatively, the 350 kW DC unit delivers the same charge level in just 24 minutes, showcasing its rapid charging capabilities.

The Kia EV9 is outfitted with a comprehensive suite of safety features, designed to protect passengers and enhance vehicle stability and accident prevention. The standard safety features include 10 SRS airbags covering front, side, and curtain areas, along with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control System (TCS).

Additional standard features include a Safe Exit Assist system that warns and locks the doors if a vehicle is detected approaching from behind, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). The car also offers a Rear Occupant Alert and ISOFIX points for child seats.

Advanced safety features further augment the EV9’s security systems. These include High Beam Assist (HBA), Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA). The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Assist aids when reversing from tight spaces by monitoring approaching vehicles.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with multiple directional sensing capabilities (such as junction turning and crossing, lane-change maneuvers) help in maintaining safe navigation. The vehicle also incorporates Lane Following Assist and Smart Cruise Control.

Currently imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from South Korea, the Kia EV9 is available in five colours: Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, Pebble Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, and Iceberg Green. The vehicle is offered with a 5-year manufacturer warranty or up to 150,000 km, and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the EV battery.
