Kia Carnival Hybrid debuts at GIIAS 2024 - 1.6L hybrid petrol with 242hp/367Nm priced at RM402k

KUALA LUMPUR:  At the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, Kia Motors has revealed the latest addition to their lineup: the fourth-generation Kia Carnival facelift, including the highly anticipated Carnival Hybrid variant.

This unveiling underscores Kia's dedication to expanding its range of electrified vehicles and offering more eco-friendly options to consumers. This could be exciting news for Kia Carnival fans in Malaysia, as it introduces a non-diesel variant to the Southeast Asia market.

The new Carnival Hybrid is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid engine, similar to the one found in the Sorento Hybrid, paired with a 54kW electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This combination delivers a robust 242 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque. The model features 17-inch aerodynamic wheels, Active Air Flaps in the front fascia, and paddle regenerative braking for improved efficiency and performance.

The facelifted MPV boasts a more striking design, advanced technology, and versatile multi-purpose capabilities. Key design updates include a grand sculptural grille, intricate cube-like headlights, Kia’s signature Star Map lighting in the front and rear, and geometric wheel designs. Inside, the Carnival Hybrid features a dashboard with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment and navigation display on a curved panoramic panel, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The interior of the Carnival offers a luxurious and spacious environment, complete with 8-way power-adjustable seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and an electric parking brake. Additionally, the Carnival Hybrid incorporates Kia’s latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2, and several other safety features.

PT Kia Motors Indonesia has announced that the official pricing for the Carnival Hybrid is set at IDR 1.388 billion (approximately RM402,000). This pricing reflects the advanced technology and enhanced features that accompany the new hybrid powertrain.
