Jeep Renegade gets a mid-season facelift
KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Jeep Renegade facelift version has been officially teased and will be globally unveiled on June 6, 2018, in Turin. Along with the new petrol engines, the model will get upgrades on the exterior end, as well.
Due to the Renegade’s funky design and small dimensions, it received an overwhelming response in European market. Hence, Jeep’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has decided that the Jeep Renegade updated version will be launched in Europe first. When launched in Malaysia it will compete with the recently updated Renault Captur and 2018 Hyundai Creta. In comparison to the Jeep Compass, Renegade would be cheaper.
The all-new Renegade showcased an updated tail lamp that now gets a modern touch with a hint of original design, i.e., the new X shaped detail. The older white reflector is replaced by new graphic design, bringing a more prominent red “X”. The outer casing has been updated and looks classier in gloss black touch as compared to the earlier subtler matte black finish.
Jeep in their official statement said that the facelift Renegade will bring a new family of the engine, soon. The 1.3-litre petrol engine being the largest will produces a maximum power of 152 PS and 182 PS with slight tweaks. Whereas, the smallest, 1.0-litre unit generates a maximum power of 122 PS on tap.
We are not sure whether the Jeep will sell diesel engine option in the all-new facelift Renegade. As FCA has announced its plans to get rid of all the diesel units by 2022 in Europe. As per the company’s five-year product roadmap plans, the Renegade will surely not remain an entry-level model for a long time.
