Jaguar Land Rover plans to restart production from May 18
KUALA LUMPUR: The COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill. The manufacturing activities of several automakers are halted in most of the countries for more than a month. But now, as the impact of the virus begins to flatten out in some parts, auto companies are fastening their belts for a strong comeback. One such automaker is Jaguar-Land Rover, who has recently announced its resumption plans through a press release.
The firm plans to gradually begin manufacturing from May 18, starting with production units in Solihull in the UK along with Slovakia and Austria. About the other countries, the resumption plans will be announced as soon as the respective governments lift the restrictions.
The company mentioned that its Changshu manufacturing plant in China has started in mid-February. And the showrooms are also opened-up in the country. As a result, the signs of recovery in demand and sales have been observed.
Along with the restart plans, the firm also stated about the standard operating procedures reframed for the safety of workers. “The health and wellbeing of our employees is our first priority. We are developing a robust protocol and guidelines to support a safe return to work. We will adopt strict social distancing measures across our business and are currently evaluating a number of different measures to ensure we protect and reassure our workforce when they begin to return to work,” said JLR.
With a continuous check on the COVID-19 situation, the firm intends to follow all the guidelines of local relevant authorities in the markets.

So, now when a firm declared its resumption plans, other automakers will also follow suit. Besides these countries, Germany also continues with the control of pandemic, and as a result, Volkswagen has resumed its production at various manufacturing units.
