KUALA LUMPUR: ‘Black Is Better, Black Is Bold’ and proving the statement is the Honda CR-V Black Edition. Yes, Honda Malaysia has introduced the CR-V Black Edition in the country which undoubtedly looks stunning.

Honda CR-V already houses supreme features and the Black Edition model only adds to its unchallenging attitude. Therefore, Honda rightfully calls it ‘SUPREMACY with an ATTITUDE’.

Honda CR-V Black Edition highlights -

The Black Edition model remains true to its name and therefore features several black elements both inside and out. The black elements come in the form of -

  • Black front grille
  • Black bumper garnish
  • Black alloy wheels
  • Black interior finishing (black piano trim on the steering wheel, air-con vents, and digital meter panel & black wood trim on the dashboard, doors, and centre console)
  • Front seats with ‘BLACK EDITION’ embroidery

In addition to the obvious black elements in the CR-V Black Edition, the model also comes equipped with several high-tech, comforting and luxurious features. For example - Remote engine start, hands-free power tailgate, and Honda Sensing suite of 8 advanced driver-assistive technologies. The latter includes Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist System, Auto High Beam, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Low Speed Follow.

Based on the 2021 CR-V facelift mid-spec 1.5L TC-P 2WD model, the CR-V Black Edition is priced at RM 161,913 (on-the-road without insurance) with SST exemption. Thus, making the Black Edition RM 4,298 dearer than the standard model.

What powers the 2021 Honda CR-V Black Edition?

The CR-V Black Edition is powered by the same powertrain that fuels the SUV mid-spec 1.5L TC-2 2WD model, i.e., a 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo mill making a maximum power of 193 Nm along with a peak torque of 243 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

The Honda CR-V CKD locally-assembled model first rolled out in 2003 and since that the company has sold over 108,000 units. The current 5th-gen model has contributed 43,000 units to this massive figure. In August 2021, CR-V led the non-national SUV segment with a 24 percent share.
