GWM Ora 07 and Tank 300 lands in Malaysia - Q1 launch expected

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia is gearing up for a busy period as they excitedly reveal images of the Ora 07 and Tank 300 in a Malaysian stockyard, signaling a strong hint towards their upcoming launches.

For over a month, the company has been teasing these introductions, and now, the unveiling seems closer than ever, particularly for the Ora 07.

Anticipated to grace the market in the first quarter, as subtly suggested by the company, this charming and refined electric vehicle (EV) is poised for its launch. Moreover, GWM Malaysia is set to unveil the Ora 07, their second EV offering in Malaysia, in two distinct configurations: a version with a single electric motor promising an impressive 640 km range, and a dual-motor, all-wheel drive variant capable of covering 550 km, reflecting the choices available in Thailand.

Both models will however feature an 83.5 kWh ternary lithium battery, with the Long Range variant sporting a front-mounted electric motor delivering 204 PS and 340 Nm of torque, and the Performance variant impressing with 408 PS and 680 Nm of torque.

While pricing remains unannounced, comparisons in Thailand suggest a competitive range of RM172k-199k, and that price tag will notably get you some cool features, including an active rear spoiler as well as that distinctive Porsche-inspired design.

The Tank 300, with its robust SUV appeal, is speculated to be priced around RM250k, offering a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 220PS and 380Nm of torque, a 12.3" dual-screen setup, premium audio, Nappa leather seats with massage function, and cutting-edge safety technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Secondary Collision Mitigation, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Tank is a global luxury SUV brand launched by GWM for the new trend of SUVs. It is based on the concept of "toughness and tenderness". The lineup currently includes the Tank 300, Tank 400, and Tank 500 models, with the Tank 700 and Tank 800 slated for release in the future.

The Tank 300 has an “off-road DNA", which means the vehicle is specifically built to perform well in challenging terrains, such as rough trails, uneven surfaces, and rugged landscapes. The off-road chassis features electronically controlled mechanical differential locks on both axles.

These locks can be activated with the push of a button to enhance the vehicle's traction and stability on challenging terrain. Think of it as a budget Land Rover Defender or a Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

Additionally, the Tank 300 features dual-speed electronic part-time 4WD, allowing drivers to select the 4WD mode according to the vehicle's needs and road conditions. It locks the front and rear axle wheels to optimize traction and control in various driving situations.
